Star Tribune: It's Time for a Conversation about National Monuments.

It’s time for a national conversation about our monuments, what we stand for and where we should take this in the future. The President says he wants to protect all monuments and send out law enforcement to protect “our culture.” Does this include the monuments and statues that celebrate murderers, rapists, and butchers? Is this about erasing history? How about culture? Or is it about rectifying lies that have been perpetuated for far too long. If the answer is, follow the process, what happens if there is no real process? Where do you go from there? If you read the article, you’ll see that I’m very much involved with this case and there will be more to come. According the the Strib, “XXXXX's attorney, Jack Rice, said he hopes authorities are open to a resolution that would allow those who pulled down the statue to explain their reasons in a public forum.” So, strap in and prepare for a long overdue conversation.
