The jurors in the Kim Potter manslaughter trial have just finished day 2 of deliberations with q question for the Judge. “What happens if we can’t agree? This is a common question but it is potentially also a monumental one. After more than 15 hours of deliberations when you have a brutal video on one side alongside a distraught police officer and a couple of witnesses who said she was justified to use deadly force on the other, this is a question that has few simple answers. The only phrase that comes to mind is possible “hung jury.”
